Head wraps/retro turbans - patterns/how to guides etc

I'm not sure if I am posting in the right board, but I'm looking for ideas for scarves to wrap around my head, may be a pattern for a retro rurban. I do a lot of DIY and gardening and I want to keep my hair clean (not to need to wash it each day as it is getting drier).

I realise that I may be out of step with fashion on this matter, but I'm not looking fashionable when I am in my scruffy painting clothes, or moving compost in a wheelbarrow! Any ideas? TIA.
