Die cutting advice?

Hi I'm wanting to print some press out type shapes in cardboard, with the shape sort of perforated so kids can press them out, without faffing with scissors etc. I've had very expensive quotes for professional printing which I just can't afford and someone mentioned I might be able do it myself with a die cutting machine. Does anyone have one? Can you make perforated type cuts? And can you design your own shapes to be cut or do you have to use only bought dies? Any ideas on whether this would work or any suggestions for an alternative? Thanks

I have a die cutting machine with a fair few die cuts. Most of my die cuts cut all the way through the card. I do have a die that makes rosettes that have perforated edges but that is to fold rather than push it out!

What shapes are you after?
