I want to do a few 12" crochet squares for a blanket I'm making and found these on Ravelry. Has anyone tried them and can help with a few questions?

I use DK and these use a different yarn/hook so I don't think they'll come to 12" - do you just add rounds of DC?

How easy is it to convert US terms to UK terms? Should I print the pattern and translate the terms first?

How hard are they? I've got my eye on this one ... everytrickonthehook.com/patterns-2/clown-car/
but there's bits I just haven't heard of before! (front post single / double crochet)

The link isn't working but singke crochet is uk double
Double crochet is uk treble.
A front post crochet involves putting your hook into the hole next to your stitch, looping it around the back of it coming out the other side and then hooking your wool and doing your stitch.
If you look on YouTube there are a lot of tutorials which will get you through uk/us terminology

I've just done Lotus Moon for Woolly Hugs.

I did extra rounds to make it up to 12" as you propose to do.

I would print the pattern out and convert at least the first part before you start until you get into the swing of it.

I found Lotus Moon reasonably challenging - definitely doable as there are good photos for each stage. Front post crochet is explained - you may need to google a bit to find tutorials for all the stitches but you should be able to follow along.

Thank you both. @tribpot that's beautiful, so intricate, looks like lace

Thanks for the front post explanations - actually not as tricky as I feared!
