Try a company called supply for soaps and candles. Are you trying melt & pour or cold process?

Kids often prefer sweet and fruity fragrance oils (strawberry, apple, etc).

But if it's for you, I think essential oils tend to smell nicer and less cloying. Some good ones for blending include lavender, ylang ylang, patchouili, geranium, sweet orange, bergamot and cedarwood.

You can test scent blends by dipping the tip of a cocktail stick into each essential oil and putting a group of the sticks together in a ziplok bag for a few days. When you open it up and have a sniff, you often find that the scent has 'evolved' over the few days into something more sophisticated than when you first did the dipping.
