Joining granny squares

So these are my squares. I have a pale pink yarn to join them. I think DC join is what I'm after but I'm struggling to understand how to do this!

Where do I start - in a corner? What do I do with the chain spaces? All my other crochet is learnt from Bella Coco but she doesn't seem to have a tutorial for this!

TIA

I sew at the back you can’t really see it. Look at attic 24 for how to join granny squares and other lovely stuff! The squares look great

I pick up the yarn in a corner, with two squares either good or bad sided facing each other (depending on whether you want a visible ridge or not) then just go along double stitching them together with a chain between stitches

She does have a tutorial on it.

Daffodil, you star, thank you! I just kept getting the join-as-you-go one.

Yes I was just coming on to say I'm about to use Bella Coco's YouTube tutorial on joining granny squares in the next few days. I have basically learnt to crochet from her videos!

Those squares look amazing by the way!

Hope you don't mind me asking my question here, OP, but it is similar to yours and I'm really in need of help. I am a comparitive beginner and am partway through crocheting the squares for this baby blanket. The pattern instructions only say to crochet them together, no other instructions. I've done a couple as a practice, using single crochet, but it leaves a ridge between squares, which I'm not keen on. Does anyone have any suggestions for a fairly straightforward, pretty but flat crochet method for joining? Thank you.

I like the zipper method, bananas.

Thank you Tribpot, that looks ideal.

@tribpot Just returning to say a huge thank you for the link. I've made a start joining my squares and whilst it's not the quickest method, it's very straightforward and the join is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for taking the time to post.

Yes it's a good one, isn't it? Glad it's working out for you.
