I made a hessian table runner. It sheds dreadfully and I'm really not too sure about having it anywhere near food.
Would machine-washing it get rid of the loose fibres, or would it continue shedding? Or fall to pieces?! All the edges are hemmed with meandering stitch, and all the raw edges are caught with the same stitch.
(And how do I get all the hessian fluff out of the woolly jumper I was wearing while I was sewing?)
