What is this knitting stitch called?

Well more of a method. I need to YouTube it but can’t remember what it’s called.

It’s where you cast onto scrap yarn at the beginning of a cowl so you can join them neatly at the end without any seam.

Thanks 🙏🏼

Do you mean grafting?

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 15/03/2018 17:08

Thanks Freaky for replying! Well grafting is the end bit - where you have two rows of live stitches that you graft together. But it's the how to knit the first row in a way that you put out the scrap yarn and whoosh there's a row of live stitches!

Is it a 'long tail' cast on?

Butterchunks · 15/03/2018 20:11

Is it Kitchener stitch maybe?

StringandGlitter · 15/03/2018 20:13

Oh thank you thank you! Provisional cast on is what it is! I'd forgotten because it's been so long.

I'm attempting to do brioche stitch for the first time and just wanted a nice warm squishy cowl.
