Does anyone have a JANOME sewing machine?

And can you tell me how to work it?

I just bought one off a car boot sale. It works (as in there is a noise when I switch it on and press the foot pedal)

I can't get the needle to thread, I can't get it to pick up the cotton from the bottom reel, and I can't get the needle to go up and down more than once (either manually or with the foot pedal)

It is model JF1014, which I suspect probably stopped being produced in 1976 but anyone with a similar one should be able to give me a bit of a hand???

Have looked on the Janome website, and tis not much help.

I bought it thinking that I might do lots of sewing, I could make all our own clothes, and the cushion covers and curtains that I already make, I could make them to last instead of them falling apart because my hand sewing isn't great.

I didn't want to buy an expensive one and then never use it, but now am wishing I had got a £50 one from netto!

Ive got one and it works lovely. Thread it by following the arrows on machine and front to back on needle. Try sewing 'style 1' first on 'tension 3' approx and 'length 3' also..thats the 3 dials sorted. bottom thread comes through little slot in front of needle..both threads should be loose enough to pull through.You can get spares and replacement manuals from googling 'Janome jf1014' and going on 'sew4less' webby..if i find anywhere that you can download one for fre i'll leave a note..have fun x.

You can download them from a few sites for a few quid.

Anything you need to look at doing with it from threading it up to issues with tension can usually be found on a YouTube video.
