Die cutters?

I am considering getting a die cutter for a friend for her birthday. She makes her own cards and enjoys a bit of craft. I'd say my budget is about £60-70, but I won't bother if they are a) rubbish at this price or b) not for beginners! Any thoughts?

That's a very generous gift. Obviously your friend will need to buy dies, but there are some very good ones on eBay from China at a fraction of the price paid here. The BigShot is a very good machine and very sturdy.

(Not necessarily the best price, just for info. Currently £54 in The Range)

Forgot to say I have a BigShot and it's never let me down; definitely not rubbish!

Oh, I hadn't heard of The Range. What does this sound like to you? Seems like a bargain.

I've no experience of that one, but it does look a bit flimsy. One thing about the BigShot is that it's built like a tank! Sizzix (makers of the BigShot) have a very good reputation and their Customer Service is excellent; I bought a BigShot Plus which was faulty and it was replaced without any trouble at all.
Does your friend know you're thinking about buying her a die cutter? She might have something in mind on her 'wish list'.

I found the Sissix on craft stash for £55 but with a 20% discount Shock so will get her that plus a few dies and some paper. She doesn't know. I think she and her kids will have fun with it and if it is a gift she doesn't have to feel guilty if it sits in a corner!

Have a look on eBay for 'dies from China' - some good prices!

I am a big crafter and I have the Hobbycraft die cutting machine which comes with some diecuts and cards. It’s £50 and absolutely brilliant
