Is Debbie Bliss wool really that fab to knit with?

Have just bought myself 3 Debbie Bliss books - Cashmerino DK, Simply soft and Complete Cashmere (slightly addicted!).

Am debating whether it is worth spending out for the 'proper' stuff or substituting for something cheaper.

Anyone knitted with any of it? Is it worth the money?

My mum has knitted lots of things for DD with it and they are lovely. BUT, one of the pinks also runs really badly every time you wash it which aint practical if you want to knit something with pale stripes.

I'd substitute, but try and find a similar nice yarn. Sirdar, Wendy and Patons are all realising that there is market for premium natural fibre products and are getting in on the act. Sirdar's range is called Sublime and is cheaper than Debbie Bliss.
But...having knitted with cheaper cotton and merino wools, there is a difference. The quality of Rowan, Jaeger and Debbie Bliss is better, IME, especially Jaeger.
So I'd say it is worth finding a cashmere blend alternative. And cashmere costs so it is going to be more expensive.
Debbie Bliss is her name califrau.

Thanks.

This expensive yarn is new to me. I used to knit for DD when she was a baby (had hardly any money) using 99p DK!!!!

Am currently knitting using Sirdar mohair which is lovely.

Will look into other wool available unless of course I get a Debbie Bliss bargain on ebay
