US mums needed! What the hell is gauze?

I want to make a wrap out of what is called gauze in America, what is this in the UK? I have variously been told it is viscose, muslin or cheesecloth, so any idea which is right?

Me too, but I want clarification and when I ask a mum on a US babywearing site they all say 'gauze, like they use for nappies'

I use Fluffles! That doesn't help me!

A wrap? Gauze to me is found next to the bandaids in Walgreens (Boots). isis a thing woven material which is used to wrap wounds. Its is deffo not musin. Sort of like cheescloth. No idea what viscose is.

Well precisely, Eleusis! Gauze is what you put on a wound, not something you lovingly wrap your baby in!
Sounds like muslin is the way to go...

A wrap? As in a nappy? Or as in a blanket to keep bubs warm?

Sorry, my mistake, I meant a wrap for carrying DD, not a wrap for a nappy, I am definately not brave enough to try making one of those!
