Granny square help please!

I had so much help and support on my previous thread, hopefully linked here:

I have managed to learn the basics and am now trying to make a granny square. But I am confused!
There seem to be many variations and then I get lost with how many times I have to repeat a set of stiches... all my attempts end up wonky. See pic for a laugh my most recent unfinished wonky attempt! I've obviously gone wrong somewhere and then I just gave up....
What I really need is a dummy's guide, step by step, from someone helpful and lovely!

I can't recommend her tutorials enough. I started nearly 3 years ago and I'm now totally addicted to crocheting.

From looking at your square on the left side you've done 2 sets of trebles in the same space. Also your bottom left corner only has 1 set of trebles, it should be a set of 3 several chains (usually 2 or 3) and then another set of 3 trebles all in the same space.

Don't get disheartened.
My first attempts were very much like yours but now I'm creating all sorts including these blankets which I loved making.

Stay with it, it's so enjoyable and so rewarding.
And if I can do it - anyone can!!!!!!

I remember your previous threat Posie. I have only just started crochet too although I have knitted for years.

I get frustrated when it doesn't work out quite right but then I remind myself I'm only a beginning and meant to be enjoying the process so it doesn't matter too much what it looks like - it's still all just practice.

Keep on going and it will become more clear over time as you get more familiar with it. Your granny square looks great. I love the colour.

Thank you for the replies! Fairy I did follow a Bella Coco tutorial but she fast forwarded through a section (probably assuming I knew what to do ha ha ha!) and I gave up! Your blankets are beautiful and just the sort of thing I would love to make one day.
rizlett ah you have caught the bug too! I must admit, although I am rubbish, it is very compelling and I am quite determined to get there eventually! Good luck with your efforts too.
I think what I really need is a long list of step by step instructions for a slow learner! (With no fast forwarding or skipping out crucial stages) If anyone out there feels able to help with that or point me in the right direction I would be so so grateful.

You have just gone one space too early with your corner. Go back to your bump and undo three treble. Next space is your treble gap treble corner.

If you scroll down there's a fab list of instructions. They are smaller than the traditional granny square with less gaps but I like the look of them and will give it a go.

Thank you rockcakes I will try and fix it!

I taught someone recently and we worked out that it is much easier to use a new colour each round when you start so you can differentiate between the rounds and pick up any problems quicker.

Attic 24 is fantastic.

I've done a few of her patterns and the step by step pictorials are amazing.

Remember a granny square can be as big as you want it to be - just keep adding extra rounds.

I finally completed a square! It needs a lot of work, my tension is clearly not consistent by any means, but....I finished it!

Oh, if anyone knows how to finish it, my crochet hook is still attached and I don't know how to get it off!

Posie thats wonderful - well done.

To finish off simply yarn over and pull through then snip off the yarn (leaving a tail of about 4") and pull through the rest of the yarn. Remove your hook and tighten yarn. Then simply sew in the tail.

Thank you Fairy, I will do that! It sort of makes sense now after 10 million attempts. Onto the next one (its a bit addictive this crochet lark).
