Right paint for this craft job

Want to repaint a wooden shelving unit for my DDs room as it's very old and some of the paint is chipped or scuffed

It's in the shape of a princess castle with windows, drawers, turrets etc. These are currently painted in different colours and I want to do similar when I repaint although in different colours to currently

I have standard primer and eggshell for the base coat for the unit, but what kind of paint do I need for the turrets etc?

Acrylic? Something else?

I had been looking as rustoleum toy safe paint but it's £££ for 250ml tins when I am going to need 3-4 colours and doubt I'll use 50ml in total

Any ideas?

Have you thought about tester pots of eggshell from the diy shops?
We did this for drawer fronts for my then 4 year old and it worked really well.
