Knitting - best place for wool and patterns?

I know the knitting basics and have made the odd cardi but not much else. I'd like to take it back up again though and have chucked all my stuff. Where is good to buy wool and needles? And what kind of simple pattern would I best having a go at? Thanks!

For online shopping, I don't think you can do better than Wool Warehouse. I ordered some yarn from them last week, and it arrived in a smidgen over 24 hours!

Thank you, I've found a pattern and just ordered from them.

I like Wool Warehouse too. Reasonable prices and excellent customer service. For patterns I usually use Ravelry.

I use LoveKnitting and Ravelry for patterns, and sometimes the wool is well priced on LoveKnitting but I've actually found my most recent haul from John Lewis! They've had clearance on a lot of baby wool recently which is handy!

Ravelry's great as you can search for free patterns and also by how complicated they are (so you can find nice easy ones). Pinterest is good too. John Lewis is good for yarn, but pricey.

Hobbycraft often have a 3 for 2 on yarn there. Some charity shops (Sue Ryder) also sell their own yarn!

I always use black sheep wools. A great family business, and their delivery is super quick!

Wool warehouse for yarn and supplies. Ravelry for patterns. My local yarn store if I want a conversation/some advice.

Ravelry for patterns. Loveknitting for wool.

Thanks so much for all the replies! I am having a crack at a very easy pattern for a cowl to dust off my knitting needles and I have something slightly more complicated on order from loveknitting and wool warehouse!
