Sewing Machine for DD (8)

DD is really getting into making clothes. She's been busily cutting up old clothes and making them into new ones for herself and her soft toys.

I suggested a sewing machine for Christmas and she was overjoyed.

Does anyone have any experience with the machines especially for kids? Any recommendations or ones to avoid?

I've never had a sewing machine so I have no idea what to look for really!

We don't have loads of spare room so I don't want a huge one but I also don't want to get her a tiny little thing that won't do the job properly.

TIA

They have one in Lidl for £69.99 this week that looks decent. Otherwise, there are loads of reasonably priced but not mini machines. John Lewis does a coloured one for £100 I think and it uses janome spares.

I got my DD the small one from John Lewis. IIRC it was £50 or so. We both love it and it is brilliant for what she wants to use it for.

Thanks very much both.

I'll have a look at John Lewis as I don't have. Lidl near me Envy

Might be too late, but I gave my old Brother LS14 to a friends DD and she was overjoyed with it, as was friends DH and DM, can usually find it for about £70 in hobbycraft

This hobbycraft one is better than the equivalent priced one in John Lewis:

I got it for DD for Christmas. It's very good, but I find the thread snaps quite easily for some reason.
