Calling crochet experts - Crochet spirals

Just a quick question if anyone can help.
I'm starting a freeform spiral (I mean a flat swirl as opposed to long & curly), found a pattern which goes like this:

Ch 2, 2 dc & 2 htr & 8 tr all into the first chain = 1st round

2 tr into the first dc stitch, 2 tr all the way round (24 stitches) = 2nd round

1 tr into next stitch, 2 tr all the way round (36 stitches) = 3rd round

....so how do I continue to make the 4th and subsequent rounds? Is it always just one single tr and then 2 for every stitch, or do I have to increase more?

Thanks!

I would have thought the 4th round was 1 tr, 1tr, 2tr then 1tr 1tr 1tr 2tr etc, so, one extra single stitch in between the increases. You'd need to make the start of each round.

I think if you did increases all the time it would ruffle.

The 3rd round is repeating "1tr 2tr" all the way round.
4th repeats "1tr 1tr 2tr"
5th repeats "1tr 1tr 1tr 2tr"

If that is clearer! :)

Thank you SoupDragon - it is clearer now.

A group of people I know who love the TOFT patterns have just started a group on FB to share photos and also give out help and stuff to people who are new to crochet. Lots of their patterns use freeform spirals for horns :) easier to be able to chat on FB sometimes for things like this and as the group gets bigger which we hope people will get help and stuff more quickly - or that's the plan!

loads of questions to avoid strange people, so just answer mumsnet and they will let you in (as never seen a weirdo on mumsnet 😂)

Really hope not breaking any rules, name changed as crochet is my escape and don't want my personal stuff following me about 😊 And actually someone recommended me to a FB group on here when I was learning. Super sorry if I'm breaking rules!
