Help needed with knitting pattern

Hi

I'm trying to knit the buttonhole border on a cardigan and I'm having trouble working out what I'm supposed to do. I've had to pick up 99 stitches and then do one row of rib which I've done. The problem is with the next row which says:

"Rib 3, cast off 2 sts, (rib 15,cast off 2 sts) 5 times, rib 3."

I can't work out whether I'm supposed to cast off the stitches from the 15 rib ones or whether I'm supposed to rib 2 further stitches and then cast off. Whatever way, it doesn't seem to add up to 99 stitches. This probably isn't making much sense to anyone, let's face it it's not making sense to me!

Can anyone understand what I'm supposed to do?

BTW I'm a fairly novice knitter.

comes out at 93 stitches total to me - are you sure you picked up the right no stitches for the size you are making?

If I could just butt into this love-fest, I followed your instructions and it worked!!! Thank you so much.
