How to make a csrrier bag holder?

Hi

I desperately need something to keep carrier bags in (something that scrunches them up and then dispenses them) but I resent paying £20 for one in the shops.

Can anyone suggest how I might make one? I have a sewing machine but am almost a complete novice.

Yours garetfully.

Looking at mine, it's basically a long rectangle with thin elastic hemmed in both ends and then fold the rectangle in half and sew from end to end.

I have one that is basically a sausage with a drawstring at each end - don't know if that helps!

I used a teatowel (souvenir type you never use because they don't dry)
sewed long edges together
turned up hem at bottom, threaded elastic through to make cat's bottom style hole.
turned down hem at top, threaded cord through to gather and hang.

Sod that! Maybe just stuff them down the back of a drawer...thats where all carrier bags like to live

LOL thelittleElf! If only I had more than 2 kitchen drawers I would probably carry on doing just that. But when you only have 2 it does seem a waste to devote one to plastic bags (why do I have so many?)

Thanks for the suggestions. MrsBadger, I think even I can manage to follow those very helpful instructions - thanks. I'll get started this week.

(NB I have a sewing machine but made the bag-bag by hand as it was more effort to drag it out and set it up than it was to sew the thing!)

Oh I have already made DS drag it out the loft, so it WILL be machine-sewed, dammit
