Cabled jackets

I want to knit a nice cabled jacket/cardigan for my nephews baby (well not his but his gf's) anyway they have been told they are having a girl.

Do you think I should knit white or pink??? Oh she's due the middle of july.

why don't you use wool with a mix of colours in?

I prefer to knit in dk. Have never attempted to knit in aran tho. I'm not too worried about the cost of woll, would just like to knit something lovely for their baby, (and plus it will be the first baby girl in our family for 18 years)
