Well, Manhattan and Long Island really.
I visit yearly to see my son and family and now I'm retired will probably stay longer. So, I'm thinking about a few activities I could do when they are at work/school. Do any of you live there and go to a knitting or crochet group? I've had a look on google but nothing really.
This year I will be over from beginning of October.
Any ideas gratefully received, I also like singing in amateur choirs when taking a break from the needles and hooks!
Many thanks.

My husband often works in New York, and I've often asked him to pick up stuff for me from the lion brand studio www.lionbrandyarnstudio.com/ so if I was going to be there for dome time, that's where I'd try first. They seem to have classes and groups and my husband says they are really friendly end helpful when he goes in. :)

Ah thanks, I don't know why I didn't think of yarn stores first! I've been to purl soho a few times for wool so I will try both. Many thanks

Try Knitty City on the upper west side, lovely friendly shop and I believe that they have knit nights and various courses.

Thanks, I'll do some more googling. I'm going for ten days so will have a few days to myself due to school and work. Will definitely be coming home with some more fabric from the fabulous store in Manhattan.

Any other suggestions for my visit gratefully received. I've been visiting for 12 years so all New York attractions ticked off and I won't be driving, but am ok using public transport.

I would put your question on Ravelry as there are a !of of US folk there who could tell you what's going on.

storynanny · 18/07/2017 19:49

Thanks, I will go on ravelry and do just that. I knew I would get good ideas from mumsnet. Even my husband says ask on mumsnet if we are pondering tricky stuff!

Have you been to Mood? Famous from Project Runway show.

www.moodfabrics.com

Quite central and could be worth popping in to find out what social events are on/local meet ups posted on a noticeboard?

I'd also second meet up.com as it was set up in NY I think, so must have something.

storynanny · 23/07/2017 20:27

Yes ive been there. Yes going to do some more meetup googling
Many thanks for ideas so far
