fabric match for backpack

I'm making DH a backpack (using the Taylor Tailor Desmond roll up) and I wanted to use a fabric similar to the fjallraven g-1000 and figured I might need to wax it myself but don't know what search terms to use to find basic, non-pretty fabric. Any ideas?

Have a look at merchant and mills - they stock a lot of waxed and dry wax cottons specifically for bags and out door wear. They also do a lot of the hardware as well.

Yes, just had a look at website ( I don't need much encouragement ) - they are all listed under 'Utility'. Lots of canvas and denim as well.

Well that is a lovely shop. I think i might be planning a trip to Rye soon
