Canvas Collage - What type of adhesive ?

I'm planning on painting a canvas for my dd's new bedroom - something magical with fairies and glitter, and I want to add some sequins and sparkly fabric etc. to the picture but I'm not sure what the best type of glue/ adhesive to use.
It's got to dry transparant I suppose in case it 'bleeds' from around or under the collage material.
Can anyone help me on this one ? Obviously the glue has to be strong enough to stick permanently.
Thank you in anticipated excitement of being able to get on with it

Hi Tillyboo, I'm not an expert with this kind of thing but I think that wallpaper paste will do the trick, it's very strong and clear when it dries?! Good luck xx

How about copydex?

PVA will do the job & though white when wet, it dries clear with a slight sheen.

Can also apply a layer over the top of the finished picture to seal the image. This will seem extreme because you appear to be concealing it beneath a white layer of gloop but I promise it will go transparent!

The Early Learning Centre used to do a 5L bottle for a reasonable price. Alternatively the stuff you pick up at DIY stores is exactly the same as that you get from arts & crafts shops but is usually a fraction of the price
