I've recently taken up dressmaking, and having successfully created a few items from learn-to-sew patterns, I thought it was time to move on to 'easy' patterns. Except this pattern is anything but easy, I can't understand the cutting layout! It seems to expect me to have 2 peices of fabric??

You need to fold the fabric . First diagram with the selvedges meeting in the middle , second in half so selvedges meet.

Oh I think I see what you mean , yes I think you need to do it in separate steps and probably cut the fabric. That is a lot of pieces though!

I wouldn't call that an easy pattern 6 pieces to make the skirt with fitted bodice with princess seams and neck and arm hole facings Confused.

Tip : sew all the seams in the same direction. Sew the princess seams from the bottom edge up. Under stitch the facings. When you've sewn all the pieces together, let your dress hang for a week before hemming to give the skirt hem a chance to drop.

Bear in mind your dress pattern is designed for a B cup. If you are bigger you will need to do a full bust alteration on the pattern before cutting into your fabric. Search for tutorials on line.
