Shirring Elastic

Hi,

Hoping to pick someone's brain.

I'm about to make a pair of harem pants, and I'll be using shirring elastic to make a waistband.

Does anyone know if I can buy this pre-wound onto a bobbin?

I don't think so but you wind by hand and it only takes a couple of minutes because it is so thick compared to sewing thread.

I wouldn't rely on just shirring elastic for a waistband - had my trousers pulled down to me ankles by dd when she was little and it was in public as well

(and GBSB ...it is pronounced bloody sherring NOT sheering )

Agree with Gatekeeper, I wouldn't trust shirring elastic for a waistband either. And sadly no short cuts you have to wind shirring onto the bobbin by hand. Good news is it doesn't take long.
