Shirring Elastic

Hi,

Hoping to pick someone's brain.

I'm about to make a pair of harem pants, and I'll be using shirring elastic to make a waistband.

Does anyone know if I can buy this pre-wound onto a bobbin?

I don't think so but you wind by hand and it only takes a couple of minutes because it is so thick compared to sewing thread.

I wouldn't rely on just shirring elastic for a waistband - had my trousers pulled down to me ankles by dd when she was little and it was in public as well Blush

(and GBSB ...it is pronounced bloody sherring NOT sheering )

Agree with Gatekeeper, I wouldn't trust shirring elastic for a waistband either. And sadly no short cuts you have to wind shirring onto the bobbin by hand. Good news is it doesn't take long.
