Lace weight crochet scarf - weaving ends query

So, I'm doing my very first lace weight crochet project, it's the blue hug scarf from this months little box of crochet. I'm not used to this thin yarn and find myself clueless regarding how to weave in ends so it doesn't come undone or look terrible!!!

Any advice gratefully received!!

Not sure what is the best way with very fine yarn. The best way that I have come up with is to ply the strands together when joining balls as you go along rather than at the end of the project if you see what I mean. I try to avoid joining fine yarn with knots. With the beginning and end threads I would carefully thread them along the edging.

Google 'spit splicing', its the method I use with laceweight yarns.
