Looking for some really basic tips please really.
What do people do with the paper bands from their wool? Do you try and keep them on? How do you identify all your wool?

When fastening off do you just pull the thread through the loop and then tighten? When it says darn in ends, what kind of length would you darn in to keep it secure?

How do you know whether you are a tight crocheter or a loose one?
Any other general tips?
I've just started an Attic 24 blanket and there are a lot of colours.......my foundation chain was almost as long as was recommended......

Some people make yarn pegs, wrap a little wool around a peg and write on the peg what colour and type it is. Useful for planning projects and seeing what colours go together.
You are correct about fastening off. I usually darn it under three stitches or so, you can carry both colours for the first few stitches of a new colour. Saves darning the ends in later.
You should make a tension square to check you are working at the same tension as the pattern. It usually tells you how many stitches and rows you should have per 4 inch square . Then you can adjust your hook size up or down

I note every project in my Ravelry account, with details of yarn brand, shade number etc. Then I chuck the bands away as I don't need them anymore.
