dc got this mashine.
it's ticking away nicely but always loosing the top thread and therefore not sweing at all.
have re-threaded if.
still tight.
faulty mashine? or is it just not very good?

have re-threaded again. now sews for a couple of stitches before losing the top thread.

Does the top thread come out of the needle? Or is it breaking?

it comes out.
needle moves ok as far as my left thumbs can tell and the thread pulls freely, so not too tight after some adjustments.

I don't have the same machine, but mine did something similar.

With mine, I have to hold both threads, the top thread and the bobbin thread, together behind the machine, for the first few stitches.

You get the fabric into place, the needle positioned where you want it, then reach round and pinch the ends of the two threads together. Otherwise they pull out and tangle under the needle.

No manual ever tells you this!

Hope it helps.

Mind your fingers!

update: it seemed to be the strength or speed.
have now used it with an adaptor instead of batteries and that seems to do the trick!
it's too fiddly really for a 7yo though...
