Has anyone been on a crochet retreat/ workshop?

DH has asked what I want for Christmas and I didn't really know. I work full time and have three DC, so time to myself is a premium. I'm a keen crocheter, so wondered about him getting me a weekend away at a crochet workshop or retreat. The thought of food, drink and crochet with like minded people sounds like bliss.
Has anyone been to one of these? Is it as good as I am imagining? And, most importantly, any recommendations where I can go?

Never been on a retreat but Toft Alpacas in Dunchurch do lovely workshops. I think it might be good to try a day or half-day workshop first. Lots of people go with friends. Sometimes people are very friendly and sometimes they aren't. you could contact local craft shops for knit and natter groups and also try Meetup. If there isn't a local Meetup group, try creating one.
