Hobby craft wooden advent calendar

I have seen this in the shop and fancy doing one. Has anyone decorated one of these? In my head it's going to be a doddle

Also what kind of paint would you use? Thanks

I think I saw this one today. I'd be tempted to paint it white and red with probably emulsion paint, I find it sticks to the wood the best. Then I'd cover some of the doors with white paint and cover with a nice Christmas decoupage x
