My DS (9) loves art ,and I want to get him something that will let him make his own art on our laptop. He particularly loves cartoon style drawing.
Does anyone know of a good product that doesn't cost the earth?
You might be able to tell I am a non techy Luddite, so hope my question makes sense

Thanks

Clip Studio Paint is excellent, they do a standard version for about £38 which has almost all the features of the EX (professional) version. Sometimes goes on sale for around £15 so could be worth holding out. It's a bit overwhelming at first but I love it, it has a lot of realistic brush tools and is geared for manga artwork so he might enjoy it.

You might also want to check some of the free programs. Try GIMP (you can download some fun brushes), Krita which has a nifty brush engine and Autodesk Sketchbook is fine for simple sketching.

There are few fun apps for Android like sketchbook and infinite painter if you have a tablet but since getting an s pen device I doubt I'd go back to finger painting Grin

Have him check out Inkscape too. It's a vector image program so a bit different to painting programs but very useful to learn.

Also Artrage. I've been using this on android and it's pretty good, I'd probably try it on the laptop if I didn't already have all the other programs. Sorry for the info dump. Hope it helped Grin
