How do I make a pharoah outfit?

Don't want to buy one, it's just for carnival at school. Does anyone have any idea how I could go about dressing up dd as a pharoah. Cleopatra type of thing would be ok too but she prefers to dress up as men.

Thanks for any tips!

recycle last year's Witch dress or similar long nondescript garment - most important things are the head dress, the gold collar and the belt

If it's not till after Easter make sure you save all gold foil from eggs...

oh many thanks for those tips!

It's 22nd of Feb we need it for Mrs B.

Goodness you're a better mum than me Cali making 5 different ones! Gawd. Ok so a big tshirt of dh's with a gold belt. Or if I see some cheapo golden carnival material, I could even make up a tunic. That should be easy, bit concerned about how to successfully make that striped headdress out of cardboard though. Will have another look at those photos, plenty of inspiration there!

Well we have a princess outfit with tiara and everything. She also has a Roman helmet and breastplate, sword thing from Spain so she could just wear that with a red cloak. THen we have a knight's t-shirt which looks like you have a breastplate with a rampant lion on it, matching helmet and sword so we don't absolutely HAVE to have a new outfit.

However, you know how it is. She's into ancient Egypt at the moment.

Mrs B. the mask might be beyond me. They also have to get through an ordinary school day in the fancy dress so it although dd would just love that, I don't think it would work.

Feeling now that it is a doable proposition altogether. What I'm wondering was whether I couldn't take striped material for the headdress with say a band over the front of the head and two clips at the sides (think no one understood that)so it's flat across the forehead and then falls down in those folds at the sides....

Hmm will have to play around a bit. The make-up will be fun.

actually that funky one looks easy to make. Might go for that one Mrs. B. Do like the staff with a fake snake wound round it!
