Can anyone who knows anything about making something with a sewing machine help me please?

If you need to start off with perfectly straight edges, but both edges are all wonky, how do you do it? I've tried following the pattern, but for some reason it's impossible. TIA

is the weave straight? if it is and its the rifgt sort of fabric, you can pull a thread to mark the cutting line

Oati · 29/01/2007 12:15

or you can measure it and mark the cutting line - using french chalk ( or a pencil)

Oati, no, the weave isn't straight and in any case I want to use it the other way up, and I can only pull a thread the other way, iyswim.

How do you measure and mark it with French chalk if both edges are aschew? What do you measure it against? Thanks!

So where do I get hold of one of those, and how do I use it?

Would it work if I folded the material in half widthways and measured from the fold?

I soooooo want to wear this thing on Friday and I can't even b**dy well get started!!

Thanks guys!

Went down the folding in half route in the end, partly because I wanted to get cracking and partly because £14 is more than the blinkin' material cost!

Will print this off for when I make something important, though, so thanks once again! xx
