Is there a way to do this that I haven't thought of?

I'm altering a prom dress by 6" - the attached photo is the layer of fabric under the chiffon overlay where it's attached to the lining at the hem.

I can't take that up in the same way without unpicking the bodice from the skirt, can I? I think I'm just going to have to do the two layers separately but if anyone knows a way to do it I'd be greatful Smile

No short cuts I'm afraid. What shape is the skirt? If it is circular, you will have hang the dress for days because the bias cut will make the hem drop.

No, I didn't think there were but I thought it was worth an ask.

It's not circular thankfully, it's pretty straight although I've got it laid on my bed at the mo rather than hung so will hang it next time I head upstairs.

There isn't time to undo it all, alter it and then re-attach the beading so I'll have to do it separately.
