Feeling a bit insecure about my new career path tonight

I think it's just tiredness

I keep doing & re-doing a seam that really isn't working and I've bent 2 needles and it's all abit much

Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit calmer and I will feel more confident

I have put it away for tonight and I'm having a tidy up (in between posting pics of DD modelling on FB half term is getting busy)

Any career change is daunting but you CAN DO IT!!

Up & at it again - I am starting to think of it more as a job, what I get up to do; rather than something I do when I have time.

Which I think is a good thing.

It's so much of a change for me - I registered with HMRC yesterday which was a good thing, if daunting.

The seam will have to wait until after breakfast & the dentist, but I'll print out some more cards as I have given out over 20 already

Here is my today story. I am making a new suit for work, jacket done, now to the easy part, the skirt. So far I have sewn one back dart in but in both back pieces if you see what I mean - I had them together still after cutting out. The fabric is a very lightweight pure wool suiting in dark navy. I have to put tailors tacks with the tails in the right side to tell the difference.

Sewn both fronts to the back (now with two darts), when I came to press it one of the fronts was on inside out, duly unpicked and turned around.

Guess what, I sewed it on upside down next, with the slight curve for the hips at the bottom.

Next up was ironing my interface on one of the back yoke pieces on the right (wrong side).

Clueless, honestly, I am usually not bad at sewing!

Today is a day off doing something relaxing - I am thinking of reading a book instead until tomorrow.

I did it!! it was the trim next to the elastic bits that was eluding me!

I got fed up, the sun came out and I went outside and made a box for my lettuce (sounds like something out of a carry on film) out of half an old pallet!

DD & I have had a little chat about trying vintage clothing on before buying & assuming "Mum will fix it"

Well, I will show you my box ....... Because I am going to unpick the skirt, first time I have used the pattern and I am not sure I like it! It is a Vogue side wrap thing with an all round yoke and a zip. I measured myself well, measured and pinned the pattern a la Palmer pletsch and it is still quite big.

I don't like it enough to make it fit.

I am thinking of recutting it and using the navy wool as the bodice on a 1960s style shift dress with a navy herringbone for the bottom half.

Waste of a day at home or what (minus my lovely lettuce box of course).

I think I now am approaching a leotard I cut out at Christmas & had problems with the leg holes....

& in a minute I'll add the dress (with new shoulder strap) & a shortened and re-jewelled cat suit!

The skirt is vogue v8835, view B. I have actually got enough left over to make the dress without unpicking the skirt - simplicity 1252 but it will be two tone! Navy to below the bust and then navy herringbone. I am doing away with the centre front dart so hopefully it will work.

I don't like the dart, seemed pointless, have made this before and it suits my pear shaped body well.

I think I prefer the dress anyway - I couldn't get away qith two tine because I am tremendously short waisted & it looks like I stuck my legs under my bust when I try!

I do too but I was trying to be very grown up (for a big day at work), dress is more me. I hardly have a bust so it sort of suits me and hides my large bottom half well or as well as anything can tbh.
