Not feeling it for my latest sewing project

It's a really simple messenger bag, ising templates I've used successfully before. But my lining fabric has wrinkles sewn into the corners which I need to unpick. The first outer fabric was horrible so I ditched it, and the canvass/ decovil combo I chose for the second try isn't bonding properly.

Humph.

I may put this to the back of a cupboard and try again in a couple of months.

Does anyone else do this?

Wedding sampler started in 2009 - may be finished for their 10th wedding anniversary - or perhaps not.

The bag was a Christmas present, in theory. I am not optimistic for next Christmas, either.

I have lost it too OP. Haven't had the inclination to sew much for a while. Made a lot of cushion covers recently and feel bleugh even about them! How can I not be satisfied with a cushion cover (or ten).

I am going to stay with a particularly stylish friend at the weekend so I thought I would make myself a new top from a pattern I have used many many times before. Earlier I dug some very expensive linen/silk out of my stash, beautiful, beautiful fabric and made the top.

I just need to make the binding for the arm holes and sew that on and I have lost the will because it doesn't look how I imagined it to be.

I even feel completely luke warm about my new overlocker which I expected to love - wish I hadn't bothered trading my old one in.

Must be a phase.

The bag is for DH. He has been lovely about the delay. Bizarrely thst makes it even worse!

I have a new overlocker, I'm going to have a stab at a knit dress made on it, instead. Then come back to the bag of despond.

Cold - I am meant to be making a bag for DH too, he hasn't mentioned it for a while. Was supposed to be pre Christmas as well.

The trouble is he is so fussy that I don't like making him anything at all, he wants it based on a particular brand of bike bag (which mine was but he is an engineer type and far too bloody prescriptive).

Mine is lovely but he wants changes here, changes there, shallower this, narrower that and I really can't be bothered!

Well Cold, I can beat that, DH chose bag fabric, twice, so I have two lots, then spent hours poring over lining.

Wants some small buckles that he took off an old patagonia rucksack. Bought a leather strap for the bagman attachment to go through and a set of punch things to make a hole in the leather.

The thought of making it fills me with dread, absolute dread.

Yes, leather! I bought a Pfaff 30 just to make his bag, so I didn't knacker my other machines but it just leaves me cold.

I think I might be suffering from that thing where when your hobby turns into just another chore, it loses its appeal. DH isn't being an arse but I know he's waiting, so suddenly it's a chore....

So I'm tracing off the dress pattern tonight

I know the feeling, DH chose some Harris tweed for a waistcoat about three year's ago. Then walztses out and buys beautiful waistcoats in the sales. My time is wasted making one.
I am now hoping that he has forgotten about the material and I will re-purpose it

I counted wrong in my cross stitch last night and now I have a wonky 'B'. That has gone straight to the back of the cupboard... Could easily unpick it but got very frustrated and mardy instead!!

I am now watching a Pfaff 30 on eBay. I won't buy it probably but it is a thing of beauty.

They are fabulous machines Cold, nearest thing to an industrial without being an industrial.

I once had a jacket-dress that just wasn't working. There was a notched collar that just kept being lumpy (I had made them perfectly fine before and since, but this one was cursed). I tried re-sewing it, like, 4-5 times and only succeeded in making it worse.

Nearly put me off sewing in general.

I had a balcony. I had matches. The fabric was cotton. Watching that demon dress burn felt gooooddddd. And my next attempt went really well. I felt revived.

I am binning the two failed outer fabrics in the next recycling run. They are clearly jinxed so have to go.

lavender, do the motors last? Am really tempted....

I bought mine from someone who had inherited it from her mother (bought from new). Mine is fantastic. Not sure if they all are as good as that as I only have experience of mine (which looks and works like new).

You can buy replacement motor/feet kits, they just attach at the back.

You can also get old ones, but I probably wouldn't do that as I am fairly risk averse!

I have a 1960s Viking Husqvarna with a stuck stitch selector, its straight stitch is beautiful and the machine feels super stong. Wondering about trying again to get it serviced. (My main machine is only two years old and computerised, it's lovely but lacks the character my ancient manual did, somehow.)
