Fabric Shops - Manchester or nearby?

Wanted some new inspiration for fabric shops either in Manchester or nearby (have car to travel Lancashire/Cheshire way).

I've never had much luck with Abakhans in Manchester, and Leons in Chorlton is my usual go to place. Have grabbed fabric from time to time in IKEA, but nothing taking my fancy at the moment.

Ideally looking for some nice contemporary designs to make a bag/home furnishings rather than dressmaking fabrics.

Can anyone add to my list.......?

Have you tried Fabworks.co.uk on line plus they have a real shop as well -? West Yorks so not sure if any good ( useless at my geography I'm afraid. ) Lots of heavier fabrics that look like they would be good for home furnishing as well.

Fabworks is amazing if you can make it over that way. Well worth the drive.

Marking my place,Leons is my go to place but it has its limitations.

Dunhelm mill has fabric. I've bought curtain material from helmshore textile mill before now fabulous quality, mine have latest 10 years and still look good.

There's a fabric shop on the top floor of Traders Ourlet in Sale which specialises in fabrics for home furnishings.

Thanks all. Manchester area is pretty poor overall for fabric shops!

Have never heard of FabWorks, so will take a look at that, though an hour drive from me (no traffic). Errr, Can you have our son for a few hours?' :-)

John Lewis do fabric although Trafford is very limited. Cheadle has a bigger department.

How far do you want to go? If you want a day out you could go to Cheshire Fabrics in Crewe and then you could go onto Stitch in Nantwich. Nantwich is a nice town so you could have a bit of a look round and a walk by the river / feed the ducks with your LO before heading home.

If Macclesfield/Gawsworth in your range then shufflebotham (macc) and bubblitec (tex?) are great.
