Can anyone suggest a holiday crochet project?

I am going away this weekend with a group of friends. It was supposed to be a ski holiday but I had an accident and won't be able to join them on the slopes. I was trying to find a project to start to take with me, to keep me occupied when they're out and about.

I am a relative beginner to crochet, can't really read a pattern brilliantly and prefer a picture tutorial. I have made a few crochet snowflakes, a granny square blanket and I have just finished the attic24 ripple blanket.

I'd rather make something useful than decorative, but as I said I am still inexperienced so anything clothes wise is probably beyond me!

I'd love to hear suggestions, or things that you have done and enjoyed. Thanks !

look up amigurumi crochet - really cute animals etc, and super easy to do.

A scarf? I just made this one and while it took me several attempts to do the first two or three rows, once I'd got them sorted it was just a case of repeating until I got to the length I wanted.

Yes to amigurumi. There are lots of free patterns and some are very small/easy. I made a big Totoro once who is about a foot high! I also find it easier working in rounds rather than lines (and look up the magic loop to start off with).

If you are going to have wifi I recommend using amigurumi tutorials on youtube. I am onto my second teddy bear after finished my first in a couple nights.
