Sewing ideas for children's gifts

I would like to start early and make some gifts for Christmas with my new sewing machine. Can anyone suggest some relatively simple ideas please. I thought that I would like to make a rag doll, I made one years ago and enjoyed it, but I have lots of children in the family so need some more ideas .

HoW old?

For girls, shoulder bags, Dorothy bags, usually go down well.

Scarves out of naice cloth if they are older. V v easy. Wool for outside ones, sparkly and/ or ruched for fun.

A personalised quilt. With matching pillow case.

Ranging from 2 - 13, boys and girls. Quilts sound like a good idea. Was also thinking maybe toy/Lego bags or car mats .

Book bags are popular and simple. Also drawsting shoe bags for any dancers.

Small purses, especially if made out of pretty fabric, eg silk.

Storage rolls for rings & ear rings for teenagers.

Lavender bags can be made into a pretty gift.

Pencil rolls.

An be adapted according to age/recipient eg can contain make up brushes for a teen.

Yes, jewellery rolls.

And play mats. Ones with roads on are a sure fire winner for years.

If you buy a shoe box with a little ingenuity you can provide the carpets and curtains and bedding for a small doll, hours of happy fun for a three or four year old.

To make a room, I should have explained.

Bedding for toys, ( shoe boxes also make good beds) is great, also a kapok stuffed toy needs clothes.
