Best pattern and yarn to crochet children's socks

I seem to have come across soooo many that I've totally confused myself! I like the look of some of the sock yarns on Wool Warehouse this and this

Any tips gratefully received as I have only done blankets so far!

I've ordered some opal wool for sock knitting. I'm also new to socks so am going to try winwick mum. A pattern and tutorials are here and there's also a book
