Air dry clay

What varnish should I used on air dry clay? I've heard acrylic but there's so many different types and it's confusing! We don't have a craft shop anywhere near where I live so I have to buy online and there's no one to advise!

We use acrylic paint and then watered down pva like the deco patch glue to seal it. Not sure if that is the 'correct' way of doing it but it does work.
