help needed - sewing a gift for niece/nephew

I have this idea of a "book" for my neice/nephew that would basically be various types of fabric (cord/cotton/jersey/velvet) with different fasteneners such as zips, different sized buttons, poppers and velcro.

They are both roughly two years old.

Anyone think this is a good idea? And if so, what would you add in?
Or would I be wasting my time?

Sounds lovely. I saw earlier today on a Facebook sewing group I'm, on a lady who had made a gorgeous fabric book of The Princess and the Pea and thought it was a lovely idea I would have borrowed had I small people around again Smile

Dungaree type fasteners, buckles, magnet fasteners, toggle type buttons (as on duffel coat)...

I thought about doing this myself but life took over and the child grew too fast to need it! You sound more organised than me - bet it will be brilliant Smile

Oh thanks for the replies.

pigeon I like the sound of that book. But that might be just because I always liked to pretend I was a princess ha ha ha

fork dungaree fasteners! Duffle coat toggles!! Brilliant ideas.

Oh I'm hoping I can do this in time for Xmas. DD will need to learn to map better so I can get on with it.

Off to Google haberdashery websites now Grin

If you enter 'busy book' or 'quiet book' into Pinterest there are loads of fabulous ideas.

See you next July...Pinterest is dangerous!
