Wish me luck - first attempt at selling my stuff at school fair tomorrow

Just finished packing and pricing everything up, totally knackered now so will be a zombie tomorrow.
I'm very nervous about how my stuff will be received but it's quite a posh school so hopefully there will be some people wanting to buy gifts for Xmas.
I've made cushions, laundry & knicker bags and lots of wooden and felt Xmas tree decorations. I'll try and post some pics - whats the best way to do this ?

NorksBride · 02/12/2006 01:55

Our fair is tomorrow too - if I see any 'knicker bags' I'll know it's you!!!

danceswithreindeer · 02/12/2006 07:25

Good luck Tillyboo !

They did - sold 2 but at £10 they were probaby the most expensive thing in the room!! Everyone commented on them though. I want to try & get a website set up or something as I much prefer making jewellery than cards now

danceswithreindeer · 03/12/2006 22:00

Hey whizz! If you e-mail me at [email protected] I'll send you a link to my website (my dad set it up for me!) see if it's the sort of thing you're looking for, not that he does them as a job but you might be able to show someone who does! (Don't want to put it on here in case people think I'm advertising )

Congrats on the sales

Tillyboo, how did you get on and are you based in Kent?!

Tillyboo · 03/12/2006 23:08

Oh, it was fab, great fun, I really enjoyed the whole experience. I sold £130 worth of stuff and was chuffed to bits with the comments I received. One lady at the very beginning said what a gorgeous stand I had, lovely stuff, fresh and inviting, it was so nice to hear this as it gave me confidence in what I was doing and so I relaxed and just enjoyed the day.
In answer to some of your questions, I'm based in Berkshire and a knicker bag is a drawstring bag to either keep your clean undies in or your dirty ones after say a sleepover or weekend away etc.
I made a couple of really pretty ones with pink gingham and floral fabric and one which was really fun and bling ! It had an applique of a pair of pants that I made from pink and black leapoard print felt with a cotton lace trim.
It caused quite a stir with a lot of laughs until I eventually sold it.

I can't wait to do another fair, but not sure how you go about sourcing them ?
I'll have a go at posting a photo of my stand but may have to wait until tomorrow when my hubby is awake

OK, I've set up a Photobucket account but how do I do the link ? I'm rubbish at this sort of thing.
Can you tell me in 'idiot' form please.
Thank-you

Your stall looks fabulous. Well done!!

I've just started making children's bedroom furnishings so haven't been to any fairs yet (everything has been made to order up to now) - and still trying to do website etc too.

Tillyboo · 03/12/2006 23:38

Ooh would love to see your stuff too. What sort of things are you doing ?
Thx for the compliment too

I got 2 more jewellery orders at the school gate today from someone I sold to, who got really good comments when she wore her necklace the next day! I'm really chuffed

I did a sale today and sold two of my drawstring bags. Loads of people took my business cards too. I also sold a few cards. Quite pleased as I was only there a short time. Could have been better, but the comments were positive towards the bags, so I will make them a regular feature in my stock I think.

Whizzz · 14/12/2006 16:09

well done you....pics please of bags !!!

DonnerDasherDancerDior · 14/12/2006 16:27

I have taken some pics, but need dh to upload them! So, sometime next year then!

Tillyboo · 17/12/2006 22:59

Would love to see your bags too !
I sold over £130 at the school fair plus another £20 today. I've also just finished two floor cushions and an appliqued fairy castle laundry bag as commissions so it's going really well. I'll try & post some more pics.
Happy Christmas to all fellow 'Makers'

some more pics
Big floor cushions and laundry bag. I'm going to start on duvet covers in the new year.

I need to source some quality fabric but at cheaper than shop prices. Where do other MN's get theirs from?
Also, has anyone been to the Soft furnishing show at the NEC in january - thinking of going this year.
