I'm addicted to Pinterest and am currently working on Janie Crow's Lilypond and Attic 24's Harmony blanket. Although now the weather's turning autumnal I fancy making myself some wrist warmers and a pom pom beanie. So what are you making at the moment?

Headbands for my Dsis with matching snood (in every colour!) And I've got two blankets on the go! I love Pinterest for ideas. But I'm rubbish at following patterns so I tend to YouTube for tutorials and then write my own instructions down for further use!

wish I could bloody crochet!

MrsMummyPig · 03/10/2015 18:38

At the moment I'm making pinwheel throw from a melody griffiths book in colours to match my decor.
I've been making lalylala dolls recently and I've just bought some lovely soft alpaca yarn that I may crochet into a scarf.

I'm making a pair of ripple blankets for a boy/girl set of newborn twins using the Attic24 pattern. I'm useless at following actual patterns and use picture tutorials and YouTube mostly. Find loads of inspiration on Instagram and have a pile of half finished projects...Hmm

Can anyone recommend a very easy pattern for a child's hat? I started crocheting about a week ago, am still learning a few stitches (I can do a vague approximation of double and half treble crochet now; treble is planned for when DS2 is at preschool on Monday!). I'd love to make a hat each for them for Christmas - do you think that would be possible? Thanks.

Flambola · 03/10/2015 23:26

I'm making a ripple blanket for myself - pattern is from verypink (I think!).

I'm also just doing a generic stripey rainbow blanket for my rainbow baby.

Am I the only person who doesn't like Attic 24?!

MrsMummyPig · 03/10/2015 23:37

redkites plain beanie hats are quite easy once you have mastered increasing. You have to do two stitches into the same stitch every so many stitches to get an even shape as the pattern dictates. Have you been doing rows or rounds? A hat would be done in rounds and I think rounds are easier for a beginner as its sometimes difficult to get a neat edge with rows until you recognise stitch formation and understand turning chains.

Ive just finished a purse/case for DD it's for her headset at work (call centre) now all her colleagues want one

butterandcrumpets · 04/10/2015 09:45

Can a newbie join in? I have only started crocheting 3 days ago. Am doing a practice run of these. If it works, I will go into mass production and give them away as Christmas presents Grin

Good luck butter
They look really nice. If you get stuck with anything someone on here will usually be able to help. Smile

Hooray, I have found my people! Grin

I started about three weeks ago, and haven't stopped since. It doesn't help that there is a wool shop on the way to my son's school!

I can't quite get the hang of reading patterns yet, but I've been following a few YouTube tutorials. Bella Coco is a good teacher.

I started by going to a crochet for absolute beginners course at our local craft shop, as a bit of a whim - and I'm so glad I did!

I am making a huge throw to cover an orange sofa I have at the end of my blue and yellow kitchen. The throw is made up of squares with a snowflake motif and up until now, I have been doing them in white and blue, as I couldn't find a suitable yellow yarn to use. But then I recently discovered Wool Warehouse and the bright yellow yarn that is just perfect for my colour scheme has just become available so soon I will be able to hide the hideous orange behind lovely blue and yellow. Smile

I have an obsession with crochet owl anything and my most recent completed project was an owl ipad case - the trouble is, I don't have an ipad!

When nothing else inspires, I make and sell little owl keyrings.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 04/10/2015 11:48

I second the Bella Coco YouTube tutorials, she's very good and easy to follow. Tomorrow is new wool day! Yay!

RedKites · 06/10/2015 22:23

Thanks MrsMummyPig . I've mainly been doing rows until now (though did find the edges weren't very even) but did my first granny square today so I'm hopeful a couple of simple hats should be doable. I haven't done any increasing yet, but what you've described makes sense, so I might give that a little go first.
