i have just discovered an old pattern that i made & loved as a teenager. looking at it, it's in 'old money', so can someone please tell me what size 2 and size 5 needles are in today's language.

also, it suggets a nylon double knitting. I presume i can use any nylon double knit for this pattern?

Ooh yes Jura - or a wide slash neck, so one of your shoulders stuck through it.

Or a low v neck at the back (very trendy when I was a teenager)

no, just a fairly palin (fisherman's rib) jumper, with a fairly normal size neck. last time i knitted it i was into baggy jumpers. it was possible to get FOUR people in the jumper (with heads through the neck). This time, i might try doing it in a smaller size!

I got my mum to post me all my old knitting patterns & there are some classics. One with batwings, AND a wide slash neck, done in 'funky' colours, with a 'gay nick kershaw lookalike' modelling it. I'm very tempted to knit that one as well.

thanks for the advice.
