What fabric do I need to make a Moses basket liner?

Pregnant with DC2 and really want to make the liner for the Moses basket we have. It's a family hand-me-down that we used for DS1. The liner we used last time was made by another family member years ago and I never really liked it: bleh pattern, not very relaxing for newborn eyes in my opinion; also didn't like that it wasn't elasticated at the top it just hung over the side.

Anyway, I want to make another one. Preferably plain white/cream/yellow but don't really know what type of fabric to choose that would have a nice weight to it i.e. not too thin a cotton.

Help! What do I need to look for online?

You can use pretty much anything. I got mine second hand and it had stains on it so I ripped it our and used a sheepskin to make one. We live in scotland so it's bloody freezing at night and it kept him warm

I think I have a one I can send you unless you were looking forward to making it - I have a pretty new Moses basket and somehow have lost the hood cover.
I m not planning any more babies so was just going to throw it all away or give to charity. It was only bought last year and used for few weeks.

The ones I've seen have been cotton or man-made velveteen things, but if I was making ones myself I'd prob go for a thick brushed cotton.

If you're padding it, my Moses basket came with a nicely quilted liner, looked good and was soft against the basket weave. Prob just one layer of batting, with diamond shaped quilting.

I'd suggest cotton, easy to wash, feels soft and ismooth durable for years of use. Congratulations on your baby Smile

justyou thanks for the offer but I am looking forward to making it! I don't get enough time on my sewing machine as I'd like. Also the basket is larger than the average Moses.
