ok am a bit stuck

can you nice people look here

am stuck on the "shape for bottom" bit.

right. last line says kn 6 rows of st st on each of these row of stitches

WHICH? the 18 on the needle at the end? or do i knit an underlined row then 6 ros ss?

am favouring the former, cos I think that works better with the k/p sequence, but...my grammar pedantry is then in rebellion.

((((((((((((((((((clangers)))))))))))))))))))))

I cannot help you even the little tiniest bit, but I just wanted to muscle in on any thread that mentions Clangers

winestein · 25/11/2006 08:33

That would be fine Filly - his birthday is in March so it would be in plenty of time for that!

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 25/11/2006 08:36

winestain, email me on [email protected] and we shall talk further...of wools and their properties

thanks for the vibes frank

can someone please HELP?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 25/11/2006 08:37

I HEART CLANGERS

how can you not acknowledge that as help?

It is bumping the thread, for a start

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 25/11/2006 08:47

I am shocked at how huge this clanger is

I think its going to be easily a foot

and it uses at least twice the wool in the pattern, btw.

winestein · 25/11/2006 08:50

oh, even better!

I'm going to email you now

FrannyandZooey · 25/11/2006 08:50

Ruddy HELL that is one large Clanger

there used to be a link on the Oliver Postgate site (I think) to a little old lady who would knit Clangers for you, she might be able to assist if still alive?

FrannyandZooey · 25/11/2006 08:56

Ok I have failed to locate her

so will resort to random bragging instead

I have a Clangers grobag

and I have the "Noggin and the Moon Mouse" book in which a prototype Clanger first appeared

FrannyandZooey · 25/11/2006 08:58

and I also found this on eBay

NotQuiteCockney · 25/11/2006 09:06

It looks like you're to knit six rows of stocking stitch for each set of stitches you still have otk. But I suck at following patterns, and also at 3d object construction, having been reduced to despair by merely reading slipper patterns ... hopefully someone better at this end of knitting will come along.

winestein · 25/11/2006 09:19

I have emailed you Filly

Doesn't Miaou do some rather spectacular slippers? She might be able to help.

The only thing I ever knitted was an elephant when I was at school and it had so many holes in it was unreal. Tragic really, as it was supposed to be stuffed. The teacher was very kind, and helped me make a felt one so at least I had something to take home after 6 weeks

Oh, I was going to say, "Ask Fillyjonk, she's knitting a Clanger!"
And then I scrolled down

tamum · 25/11/2006 16:11

Yes, completely agree with dizzyday- it's the legs, presumably. You'll have to reattach the yarn to the second block though, obviously.

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 25/11/2006 18:22

I took myself out this morning and while the kids napped went over the instructions

I am so sorry, I noticed that there is in fact 2 sets of stitches. I dunno why I didn't spot that before.

am very

anyway. ta all.

WideWebWitch · 25/11/2006 20:23
