Christmas concert costume

I have to 'create' a toymaker outfit for my 4 year old son. Not particularly gifted in the sewing dept but have a machine. Any ideas-not even sure what a toymaker would wear- carpenter kind of thing? help please.

have alook at Benny Hill in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and gepeto in Pinochio (sp). But wear similar costume.

You should get away with a paint splashed apron, perhaps some paintbrushs in the pockets or maybe a few odd toy parts - springs etc. And dont forget ruffled hair with talc in to make it look grey - Good luck!
