Felt Applique - Does it run if washed ?

I've been adding felt applique to cushion covers, laundry bags etc. and although I've washed pale felt before with no problems, am I pushing my luck in using navy blue, black and darker colours ?
I'm using the felt squares you get n fabric/ craft shops and washing at 40 degrees in the machine.
Help please .....

felt is normally colourfast, but why not make a test patch of dark felt on white cotton and test it in a sink of hot water?

Good idea, I was being a bit lazy wasn't I .
I'll give it a go now.
