For fun - weirdest place you've taken your sewing machine?

I once took mine to work as I was going out that night and needed to finish the accessory I was planning on wearing. It did look a bit odd with my machine set up on my absent colleague's desk whilst I spent my lunchtime sewing awayGrin

A couple of people came into our office and were caught off guard by the sight of a sewing machine in full swing haha.

I took mine on holiday once, has to shorten DHs jeans but ran out of time in the few days before. His eyes rolled when he saw it in the boot of the car! I then spent a few hours driving to a haberdashery shop in Inverness as I needed some machine needles.

I took mine on holiday, together wirh a suitcase-full of projects and fabric, when we went self-catering a few years ago. It was sheer bliss! I got so much done. I had everything I need laid out on the dining table. Didn't need to shift from room to room to lay out/pattern-cut/iron/sew/fit. Didn't need to clear up every 10mins to feed/collect/discipline dc. Had the most glorious view out the window, and a beautiful garden to step into for a stretch/cup of tea/lunch/etc.

That sounds utter bliss!

Taken it on holiday - did loads
Taken it to my mums & we sat side by side making curtains
Taken it to dance class to sew costumes
Taken it backstage to alter and mend costumes

Not me but a Guiding colleague bought her old style hand powered Singer machine to guide camp to sew on badges on to camp blankets!

I'd love to take mine on holidays but would have to leave one of the kids behind to make roomHmm

I have a colleague who takes hers every holiday. They load the car up with sewing kit and cameras. She sews all day while her dh goes off taking photos. They meet up later for dinner in the pubSmileSounds ideal but I think dds would object if we ever tried it!

I took mine on holiday to France. I'd bought a property unseen ( I have form for this ;-) ) and wanted to make some curtains.

So I took the machine and my lovely mum and some ready modes and shortened them and cut them up to make them smaller and also used some curtains to cover seats.

It was a holiday property . Looked fab when we'd finished. Only had 3 nights there, so wouldn't want to do that again!
