plaster cast?

am thinking of making some sort of cast of kids hands for dh's xmas pressie but am a complete novice. Would like something durable & not too huge & heavy. Any suggestions welcome, thanks!

you can get some modroc which is like plaster but on strips. put loads of vaseline on the hands and you just wrap it on and remove it while it's hardening. i'll have a google for it

how long does modroc take to harden? Will impatient 2yo sit still long enough? And are strips small enough for baby hand?

you could do that with air drying clay (from elc or hobbycraft type places) and then just paint and glaze it. would probably be easier with a 2yr old.

modroc dries quite quickly (couple of hours) depending upon thickness, you can also cut the strips down to the size you want. hth sounds like fun!
